Starting from March 2024, Vini d’Altura and Wolftour will celebrate the biodiversity of Abruzzo’s best culinary offerings with a calendar of itinerant and limited-number experience-events. The focus is on quality and the chosen theme is the Gran Sasso of Italy, with its unique ingredients and hidden treasures.
This is a new format of a cultural and informative nature designed in collaboration with Compagnia delle Guide, Fornace del Bono, Rifugio Voltigno, RRTrek and a selection of small producers in the agri-food sector, aimed at enthusiasts, wine lovers, operators, journalists and bloggers.

“For a few years now”, explains Bruno Carpitella of Vini d’Altura, “the interest in knowledge of wine and attention towards quality nutrition have been progressively increasing, even among the younger generations. After the enormous success of the high altitude tasting events organized in the last 3 years (such as the 3 days of Altura Wines at the Campo Imperatore Hostel with the Niko Romito Academy), and the awards obtained by our products (3 Wine Hunter Awards in 2023) it was time to think bigger. So, given the numerous requests, we decided to start a partnership with Wolftour and the other operators and producers in our region, to trace a path of environmental, cultural and gastronomic study, open to all.”
“Wine and good food are a real territorial brand”, says Morena Pignoli of Wolftour, “in 2016 we were present at Vinitaly – 50th edition of the international wine and spirits exhibition with our stand for the promotion of tourist activities linked to enobike and since then we have worked to consolidate the combination of wine and tourism. Professionalism, quality and innovation are our strengths in organizing trips and tourist experiences in Abruzzo”
Vini d’Altura is simultaneously a refinement method and a territorial promotion tool. The wines coming from different Italian regions, from Piedmont to Sicily passing through Abruzzo, travel a winter transhumance up to 2000m. Thanks to the particular climatic and environmental conditions of the Gran Sasso, the bottles undergo a maturation process that is unique in the world, which modifies the traditional microbiological and chemical-physical process of the wine. The final product, after 7 months at altitude and another 12 months of rest at our altitudes, is unmistakable, be it white, red or sparkling wines: great freshness, elegance, cleanliness and explosive aromatic notes that really make you think of the purity of the high mountain.
