Vasto, the ancient Histonium, is the most important town in southern Abruzzo. It is situated on a steep hill that degrades towards the seaside. In the territory of Vasto there is the Regional Nature Reserve Punta Aderci. It is almost famous for the Trabocchi Coast: the “trabocco” is a suggestive wooden fishing machine.
