You will follow the itinerary made by Pietro da Morrone, saint and hermit, in 1294, from its hermitage in Sulmona to L’Aquila, where he became pope known as Celestino V. Along the trip, horse riders will visit wonderful mountain villages, mountain towns and ancient hermitages. Itinerary and duration can be modified according to your needs.
The journey includes: Horsemanship
Day 1
• Arrival to Vittorito “I Cavalieri dell’Antera” Horse Centre; meeting with the guide and explanation of the tour;
•
Visit of the village and Pietrantonj wine cellar (one of the most ancient of Central-Southern Italy);
•
Dinner based on local dishes and overnight in Vittorito.
Day 2
• Breakfast;
•
Horse riding from Vittorito to Sulmona;
•
Visit to the hermitage of S. Onofrio, where pope Celestino V used to live;
•
Visit of Sulmona, dinner in an old rural farm and overnight.
Day 3
• Breakfast;
•
Trekking from Sulmona to Vittorito wtih guided tour of Sorgenti del Fiume Pescara Nature Regional Reserve;
•
Lunch based on local products;
•
Overnight in Vittorito.
Day 4
• Breakfast;
•
Visit of the suggestive canyons of San Venanzio, valley among mountains along Aterno and medieval sites;
•
Visit to the hermitage of Sant’Erasmo, ancient building in the heart of the canyons:
•
Packed lunch;
•
Snack and tasting based on local product in Raiano and return to Vittorito.
Day 5
• Breakfast;
•
Trekking from Vittorito to San Benedetto in Perillis, medieval mountain village, and visit of its ruins;
•
Lunch at Cantina Valle Reale. Arrival to S. Benedetto in Perillis, guided tour of the village and the Rural Life museum Transfer to Collepietro;
•
Dinner and overnight in holiday farm.
Day 6
• -Breakfast;
•
Trekking to the hermitage of Sant’Erasmo, amazing medieval building located on high mountains with suggestive panoramas;
•
Packed lunch;
•
Arrival to San Lorenzo di Beffi, dinner and overnight.
Day 7
• Breakfast;
•
Trekking to Goriano Valli; guided tour of the medieval village and to “Vigna di More” local firm, with lunch based on local products;
•
Visit to the Pagliare: ancient rural villages;
•
Overnight in Fontecchio.
Day 8
• Breakfast;
•
Departure.
