Choose this package and you will discover one of the most attractive Italian mountain medieval villages on the Gran Sasso Mountain: Castel Del Monte will surprise you thanks to its panoramas and its tiny streets, that will let you enjoy the historical and artistic heritage of this site. At a short distance you will be able to visit other two medieval jewels of Abruzzo: Rocca Calascio, with its 14th century ruins, and Santo Stefano of Sessanio, one of the most beautiful Italian mountain villages.
If you love nature, don’t miss the excursion to the amazing Caves of Stiffe: more than 700 meters of rocks for exploring and for going trekking on Gran Sasso mountains; moreover, in the winter time you can take part to exciting cross-country skiing competitions and nice walks with snowshoes in Campo Imperatore plateau.

Day 1
• H 8:30 Arrival to Castel Del Monte and accommodation in B&B.

H 10:30 Guided tour in the old village centre, through ancient walls, magnificient buildings and ancient churches. Moreover, a visit of the City Museum of Material Culture is very interesting.

H 12:30 Lunch: free time.
•
H 15:00 Transfer to Campo Imperatore, visit to the Botanical Garden and trekking to the Rifugio Duca degli Abruzzi. In the winter time, cross-country skiing and nice walks with snowshoes are possible.

H 18.30 Return to the B&B.

H 19.30 Traditional dinner and overnight.
Day 2
• H 8:00 Breakfast.
•
H 9:00 Transfer to Rocca Calascio and visit to the suggestive 10th century castles at an altitude ofalmost 1,500 metres, to enjoy a breath-taking panorama.

H 12:30 Lunch: free time.
•
H 15:00 Transfer to Santo Stefano of Sessanio and visit to the ancient mountain villages, characterized by a magical and timeless atmosphere.

H 18:00 Return to the B&B.

H 19:30 Traditional dinner and overnight.
Day 3
• H 8:00 Breakfast.

H 9:30 Horseriding on the Gran Sasso Nazional Park bridleway for 30 kms to Santo Stefano of Sessanio.

H 12:30 Lunch: free time.
•
H 15:00 Return to Castel del Monte and visit in a local firm producing sheep cheese.
•
H 18:00 Return to the B&B.
•
H 19:30 Traditional dinner and overnight.
Day 4
• H 8:00 Breakfast.

H 9:30 Transfer to Castelli: visit to S. Donato Church, where you can admire the XVII century famous majolic ceiling and to the ceramics museum and school.

H 12:30 Lunch: free time.
•
H 15:00 Transfer to Isola del Gran Sasso and visit to the famous Saint Gabriel Shrine Shrine of Santuario; alternatively, free time to visit Castelli and its workshops.

H 18:00 Return to the B&B.

Day 5
• H 8:00 Breakfast.

H 9:30 Transfer to l’Aquila: visit to the Santa Maria di Collemaggio cathedral and to the old town centre.

H 12:30 Lunch: free time.

H 15:00 Transfer to Sulmona, guided tour of the artistic heritage of the city and of a local firm producing sugared almonds.

H 18:00 Return to the B&B.
•
H 19:30 Traditional dinner and overnight.
Day 6
• H 8:00 Breakfast.

H 9:30 Transfer to Campo Imperatore, visit to the Botanical Garden and trekking to the Rifugio Duca degli Abruzzi.

H 15:00 Transfer to Bominaco and visit to S.M. Assunta church, to the S. Pellegrino oratory (XII century) and to the castle.

H 9:00 Transfer to the Caves of Stiffe, where water and rock mix together to generate one of the most fascinating nature site in Abruzzo. You will enjoy stalactites and stalagmites, an underground river and a surprising waterfall.
